ESXi 5.5 license can't works with Veeam Backup

$

I'm working with ESXi 5.5 (2068190) Evaluation (x days remaining).

To do VM backups I'm using Veeam Backup 7.0

All is working fine.

When I put my license into ESXi, Veeam Backup can't do the backups jobs. With Veeam Backup 8.0 is the same problem.

Product: VMware vSphere 5 Hypervisor Licensed for 2 physical CPUs (unlimited cores per CPU)

License Key: 54xxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxx1Q

Expires: Never

After that I deleted the license and all works fine again.

Any idea to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance

Ah!.. I think I found some values... not exactly what I need but close.

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3.16 = STRING: "POWER Power Supply 1"

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3.17 = STRING: "FAN Fan Block 1"

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3.18 = STRING: "FAN Fan Block 3"

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3.19 = STRING: "FAN Fan Block 4"

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3.20 = STRING: "MEMORY Memory"

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.5.16 = INTEGER: 2

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.5.17 = INTEGER: 2

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.5.18 = INTEGER: 2

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.5.19 = INTEGER: 2

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.5.20 = INTEGER: 2

        SYNTAX   INTEGER

             unknown( 1 ) ,

             running( 2 ) ,

             warning( 3 ) ,

             testing( 4 ) ,

             down( 5 )

         DESCRIPTION

              "The current operational state of the device

              described by this row of the table.  A value

              unknown1 indicates that the current state of the

              device is unknown.  running2 indicates that the

              device is up and running and that no unusual error

              conditions are known.  The warning3 state

              indicates that agent has been informed of an

              unusual error condition by the operational software

              e.g. a disk device driver but that the device is

              still 'operational'.  An example would be high

              number of soft errors on a disk.  A value of

              testing4 indicates that the device is not

              available for use because it is in the testing

              state.  The state of down5 is used only when the

              agent has been informed that the device is not

              available for any use."

The vSphere API is restricted with the free Hypervisor edition, that's why most commercial application require a paid license in order to work. Even the least expensive Essentials edition will do.

Is the full volume (with full size) shown on boot of the server and in RAID config tool?

as I can see you only have one datastore?

can you make a printscreen of the datastores with the VI Client?

Hi,

I forgot to update everyone: our issue was resolved by disabling Nagle’s Algorithm on our F5 BigIP Load Balancer.

All the best.

I tried what it said in the KB.

Still unable to Migrate after performing the below.  Only thing that seems to work thus far is upgrading the HW level.

thankyou. - josh

Note: This issue has been resolved in VMware vCenter Server 4.0 Update 1. For more information, see VMware vCenter Server Update 1 Release Notes.

To ensure that vMotion is successful:

  1. Power down the virtual machine.
  2. Click the link to Edit Settings of the virtual machine.
  3. Click the Options tab.
  4. Select CPUID Mask under Advanced.
  5. Click Advanced.
  6. Click Reset All to Default.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK again.
  9. Power on the virtual machine and migrate.

jwalsh,

I think it's the correct behavior. When I configure vmnic0 only for management network it shows as unused.

Bruno,

I will read the article later. Thank you.

Thanks to everybody.

I contacted Dell and they did give me the ESXi iso to upgrade it. Is there any way to back up the ESXi box settings before I do the upgrade?

Had same problem in 5.5 U2.

Problem turned out to be that the vlans were already assigned to a port group. Solutions was delete the port groups where the pvlan ID was defined, configure the dVS, re-create port groups, select the correct pvlan number in the port group and it works.

It seems this is not a problem in version 6.0.0 (build 2494585).

I can now pass the PCI device (Intel Corporation Lynx Point USB Enhanced Host Controller) to the virtual machine (Ubuntu), and for the first time I get something sensible when issuing an 'lsusb' command

Bruno,

I've already read the article. It just indicate select "Override vSwitch Failover order" in every portgroup. I've done that, but everything stays the same.

I've just reboot the server, but equal. Now it repeats vmnic5 and 6, and the order does not work, again.

If we don't find anything more, only I can force one nic per virtual machine, manually, but esxi configuration would lose "the automation".

Thank you very much.
