Dependency Error when trying to apply the latest 5.5 patch

$

Was doing a dry run of the latest 5.5 patch. I'm on build 3248547 from 12/2015. Trying to go to 4722766. When I do the dry run, I am getting a dependency error

VIB VMware_bootbank_ehci-ehci-hcd_1.0-3vmw.550.3.95.4345813 requires xhci-xhci >= 1.0-3vmw.550.3.95, but the requirement cannot be satisfied within the ImageProfile.

Still trying to find info on this. Does anyone have any idea why I'm getting this?  Do I need to update to a version prior to the newest one from the one I'm on?

Thanks in advance!

Hi  yunya09yunya09,

many thanks.

1) should we dowolad latest FW version which matched our current raid controller driver(scsi-megaraid-sas 6.506.51.00.1vmw)?  and where site can download?

The reason why we update to newly sas driver version  which in order to resolve PSOD which was happened frenquently.

2) if have other reasons to caused this issue?   (the problem host which hold about 9~10 VMs  ,  but only four of them were hang suddenly,   I guess  ls it possible  have disk logic bad sector about it ?

BTW

Do you know how to check RAID Controller Firmware Verion, what command used to check it ?

PSOD resons is so many. You should open vmware sr and upload the ESXi host log include dump file to let professional after-sales engineers make sure the exact reson.

Make  driver and firmware to latest , match and  in compatibility list  is the most basic to do.

In my enviroment, have a PSOD case the ESXi  driver and firmware all in compatibility list ,the professional after-sales engineers say it a ESXi bug , install the patch 5.5 p10 can fix it.

Once again remind  you should open vmware sr to make sure the exact reson.

Hi yunya09

Thanks for your final suggestion.

I know  two ways : 1、login  KVM  web (suggest)

kvm_raidfirmware.png

2、download storcli software  and install vib   (Not suggest)

esxcli software vib install -v /tmp/ lsi-mr3-6.608.10.00-1OEM.550.0.0.1391871.x86_64.vib

reboot ESXi server ,run ./storcli /c0 show all

Hello,man,

I met the same problem as you, have you solved the problem?

VmWare does not allocate CPU for VM or VM doesn't request memory and CPU, therefore VM working slowly

There are big understanding questions, please see screen below. This VmWare server has big capacity. Anything VM and server has no restrictions or reservation, commonly all server is inde. But most loaded VM (inside it show 100% of processor loading) does not request a memory and CPU and therefore working very slowly. Why? What way to solve this problem?

1.What slowness you are experiencing inside the VM ?

2.Is it slow only when you try to access from network ?

3.How does the VM behaves when you try operation from the VM console ?

Slowness always not necessarily caused due to CPU or memory. It could be due to many factors.

first few questions.. could you please provide more details about the HW. how many pCPU/pCores frequency, RAM. Storage is local/NFS/FC/?

how many vCPU have the other VM's.

output from "esxtop"   wait , ready times?  or at least performance of storage counters (latency) and cpu, but counter (Wait, Ready) for memory (swap in, swap out), network packet loss

do you have deployed vROPs or vCOPs?

good place to start:

this is first small info about HW, more details little bit later

strangeness that inside VM processor standing about 100%, in this VM working MS SQL Server, but outside VM (ie in Harwdare server on VmWare), server is standing without working,

nothing anything restrictions of this VM, I want to give maximum of hardware CPU performance, but my hardware CPU loading less than 10% of its capacity, so sql-server and web-site working slowly

Operation Vmotion hangs at the stage of 14%. KernelLog contains the following lines:

VMkernelPing operation succeeds.

What could be the problem?

Thank you for your message.

Can I disable/enable HA as mentioned in the KB article without impacting the production environment (3 ESXi hosts and dozens of production VMs)?

What is the simplest way?

Blank console of VM after upgrade from ESXi 4.1 to Esxi 5.5U3a

Hallo,

I have just successfully upgraded my ESXi 4.1 to ESXi 5.5 Update 3a with one virtual machine with CentOS. VM is running fine, but when I want to open console, I get blank screen, even if I click inside or press any key. When I create a new VM (that is why I did the upgrade - I need to create new Win 10 VM) and force boot to EFI, and open console to select boot order, I get the blank screen too. So it seem that it is not problem of VM, but ESXi itself (or vSphere cilent?).

I have another three ESXi 4, which runs fine and opens VM console without any problems.

Could anybody help me to solve this problem, because I am not able to install new VM without running console!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Tony

Yes, you can disable/enable HA without issue, except if a server fails within this short time ;-)

Alternatively, you can select all hosts from the Hosts tab in the Cluster view, and run a Reconfigure for HA. This should also do the job.

Do you have IPv6 enabled on the ESXi 5.5 host? If so, does the same thing happen when disabling it?

No, IPv6 is disabled, but now I find where the problem is. It is caused by Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 mr3, which is installed on the client. I tried to find which component is causing this problem so I switched off all KES components, but with no luck. The problem disappear when I totally close KES. So I am not able to find which part of KES is causing this. Any idea? Iam I anole who uses KES with vSphere Client 5.5?

ESXI 5.5 dhcp/static config on two interfaces

$

Hi All!

I'm trying to configure the ESXI 5.5 networking.

I have a server with two interfaces - eth0 and eth1.

On eth0 I will obtain the ip address from DHCP (I know it is not a good idea), network 192.168.5.*.

On eth1 I would like to bring up the subnet 192.168.1.* with all virtual machines. ESXI should act here as DHCP server and give IPs to VMs.

Also there should be Internet access from VMs in the eth1.

Any ideas?
